The Assistant.[]

So, you've been selected to play as an assistant. Maybe you'll have better luck next round. The Assistants are tempting targets for many enemy roles, and most crew members are distrustful of assistants.

Your Job.[]

So, what is your job? Your job, as the title suggests, is to assist people. Fetching supplies from the QM, taking bodies to and from genetics, anything a higher ranking crew member asks you to really. That means anything ANYONE other than another assistant asks you to do. You're kind of at the bottom of the hierarchy here. The only ones that need to take orders from you are the AI and the cyborgs, but they are still more important to the station than an assistant. {C}This is a role for beginners, highly skilled traitors, and the incredibly unlucky.

Assistants and Roleplay.[]

When playing as an assistant, you should remember that ROLEPLAY IS GOOD. NanoTrasen will have hired you as an assistant because you are competent at a few things, but by no means an expert at anything. That means no hacking the door to the HoP's office to give yourself higher access, or disassembling the walls of security to obtain a weapon. An average Joe wouldn't know how to hack a door, or take apart an airtight wall without causing major structural damage, and anyway, your access is already sufficient to access most non-specific areas of the station. You'd be surprised where you can get with just maintenance access. Plus, hacking doors and not repairing them tends to allow traitors to access sensitive areas of the station.

Assistants and Traitors.[]

An assistant traitor is a very effective role. Sure, crew members don't tend to trust the Greyshirts, but that's only because it is mainly a role for new players and people suck at not metagaming. Plus, due to the above section on roleplay and assistants generally not being experts at anything, you can play off SOME (not all) suspicious activities as not knowing what to do. Just like in movies, nobody ever suspects the supposedly inept crew members of being the ones in charge of a plot to kill everyone. That maintenance access also comes in handy if you need a nice quiet place to do your dirty work as well.

As an assistant, you are a massive target for the changelings, the syndicates, the revolutionaries, and a few other traitor roles, simply due to the fact that the grey jumpsuit effectively makes you invisible, and that maintenance access is pretty handy.
